Schoolwide's Student-Run Bookstore program was first created by a teacher who saw a great need for students to own their own books, but could not afford the steep prices at large retail stores. As the success of her bookstore spread, her son created Schoolwide, Inc. with the vision of helping other schools open bookstores and provide that same opportunity to their students. Today, Schoolwide operates hundreds of bookstores across the country. The program has been enhanced over the years, but its objectives have not changed:
Schoolwide supplies quality children's books to schools at $1.45 each plus free freight.
A student-run bookstore provides students, parents and teachers continuous, convenient access to a great selection of titles.
Students work as cashiers, book critics, security guards, stock clerks, advertising executives, and many more great roles, building confidence, trust, loyalty and an understanding of basic business skills.
Our new 8- Week Student-Run Bookstore program provides all of the same wonderful benefits as our regular program, but also offers a start and end date for the program, and weekly activities to keep the excitement of the bookstore alive in your school, while making it more manageable for the faculty advisor.
