We recommend that you re-order on www.teacherwide.com. You need to set up an account and password with your first order. With every online purchase you accumulate bonus points to be redeemed as cash on future orders so it is worth it to order online! You can always phone or fax your orders as well.
We recommend 1 book per student (e.g., if you have 300 students, you should order at least 300 books -OR- 3 Bargain Bundles)
Typically, if you order the bargain bundles they ship within 5 days. It may take a little longer if you order other items on Teacherwide depending on availability.
A Student-Run Bookstore is not a book-fair. Whereas the goal of a book-fair is to raise money, the goal of a student-run bookstore is to make quality literature available to students. Furthermore, whereas a book fair may be conducted only once or twice a year, a student-run bookstore is open year-round, hence making literature accessible and convenient. Many schools run both bookstores and book-fairs and find that a bookstore actually increases earnings of a book fair.
Many educators think a large area is necessary to operate a store. Not true. Most Student-Run Bookstores operate on one or two tables in a strategically selected location in the school (e.g., hallway, gym, etc.)
Our instruction manual included in your bookstore start-up kit, explains in detail the daily operations of the store, including how to prepare your staff.
Normally, the stores charge between $1.50-$2 to make a profit to purchase more books. You still want to keep the cost per book relatively low for the students to have easy access to books!
No, the bargain bundles come prepackaged with a variety of titles and authors. You will only receive 1-3 copies per title so there is a nice variety. If you'd like to purchase individual titles (and supplies) you can do so on www.teacherwide.com where the discounts we offer are up to 90% off list prices! We do have a sample list of titles available upon request.
Schoolwide has developed a start-up package that provides you with all you need to get started. The package includes a cash register, display bins, paid stamp and instructional manual. Books can be purchased separately.
