“I am literally crying right now. I just open the [Zing] library, and I know now that my ELL students will be successful. Thank you for making this program free for myself and my students,” said Marta Nangle, an ESL teacher from Cedar Ridge Elementary in Branson, MO.

Principal Tracy Taylor from Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School in Rye Brook, NY, added, “I had a chance to look at Zing, and it looks great! I like the fact that it has rich texts, a wide variety of genres and interests, and books that are in a good range for students.”

Schoolwide Donates Books to LI Schools

Over the past few months, Schoolwide collected unused books that could be put to better use in our Long Island community. We gathered over 300 books, including fiction, informational and Spanish titles. Schoolwide reached out to Wyandanch Union Free School District and arranged to donate all of our books to the La Francis Hardiman and Martin Luther King Elementary schools.

We visited the schools' shared library and helped their librarian display their new books. We were even able to meet some students who were very excited to start reading.

Schoolwide would like to thank Ms. Shamika Simpson, Principal at La Francis and MLK Elementary schools, for allowing us into their community.

Lake Zurich School District selects Schoolwide!

Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 will pilot Schoolwide's Reading Fundamentals literacy curriculum with kindergarten through fifth grade students for the 2013–2014 academic year. The kick-off will begin with our Launching units and will then follow with the Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry units of study.

The District chose to pilot Schoolwide's curriculum because of its Common Core State Standards alignment, and ultimately the program sets the foundation for a model that gradually releases responsibility from the teacher onto the student through mentor texts, short shared texts, and texts offered at each student's independent reading level.
