Congratulations on Your Success
Only a year ago, Schoolwide, Inc. had only forty operating bookstores. We now have approximately four hundred bookstores, and we are growing daily!
Since this school year began, you have purchased more than 40,000 books, demonstrating your commitment to making books available to your customers and showing your dedication to getting books into the hands of your students.
We’d like to congratulate Bridget Wallen and Rose Hill Elementary, in Rose Hill, VA. Bridget purchased the largest number of books for her bookstore in the month of September—spending more than $800 for her bookstore. Way to go!
October is already looking terrific for all of our bookstores. It is an exciting time; our growth is a predictor of great things to come!

Morrison Academic Advancement – Where Innovation is the Key to Success
At Morrison Academic Advancement School in Jackson, Mississippi, the bookstore manager, Betty Amos, is creating innovative ways to get the school community to support their bookstore.
Betty has asked school staff members to sponsor at least five students and to purchase a gift certificate for each one. Students may then redeem their certificate for one book from the bookstore. |
| After she receives full staff participation, Betty then intends to introduce this project to the parents and other family members. She will ask that they purchase one book for their child and donate a gift certificate for a book for another student.
Once she receives family support, she plans to ask City Council members to match the number of books the staff and families have donated. This is where she sees the importance of media participation—in the promotion of her plans.

Take Notes: from Betty Amos!
1. Involve staff and community members in this worthy program.
2. Ask for parental support. Purchasing a gift certificate for one book can be something many parents or family members can afford.
3. Make plans, create a vision for your bookstoreís success, and then implement your plans to make your vision happen. Creating goals and implementing plans of action are the keys to any success! |

"Thank you for being so patient and diligent with me!!!! We had the grand opening of our student-run book store this week, and it has been phenomenal!!!!
We are an inner-city school, and our students are buying books like you canít believe. Most of our students have no books of their own, and they are thrilled!!! A student told me today that he had hidden his book under his mattress so that his brothers and sisters would not get it!
I am anxious to order more books! I do so hope that we can be part of the Book Booster Program. I am just amazed at how many students are buying books!!!!"
