Unit choices are guided by your instructional goals, district and/or state standards,

Typical agenda for a full day of on-site support includes:

Prepare and Review: The Staff Developer meets with a
grade level group of teachers to discuss the focus for the
day. Focus could be a particular Unit of Study, Stage of the
Writing Process, Skill or Strategy. Staff Developer
presents the upcoming mini-lessons highlighting the key
teaching points. Teachers bring student work from
previous mini-lessons. Staff Developer guides teachers on
assessing students’ strengths and needs. |

In-Class Demonstration Modeling: Staff Developer models
mini-lessons, conferences, and/or share time in one of the
grade level classrooms. |

Reflect and Plan: Teachers reflect upon the in-class
demonstration and discuss observations. Staff Developer
and Teachers map out mini-lessons to be covered next,
project outcomes, and establish expectations. |
The process above can be repeated with up to 3 groups of grade level teachers per day.

| Selecting the Right Materials |
A typical implementation of Testing Fundamentals includes 1 Whole-Group Instruction Set per classroom accompanied by one or more of the assessment components (i.e., Student Testing Packets, Whole-Group Unit Assessments and/or Small-Group Sets). Assessment selections are guided by your instructional
goals and needs, existing Reading Workshop routines and structures, and district and/or state standards.
