Memoir
Studying the Process

When we study process, we want to explore the way memoirists write and imagine the things they do to fuel their writing. We re-read books in our collection with an aim toward discovery and trying out new writing techniques.

One way to structure this phase of your genre study is to introduce a new behavior each day. Plan to introduce one behavior each day for a week. Use books from your memoir collection to illustrate a behavior or technique, then ask students to try it on their own.

By the end of this week of study, each student should have a collection of 4-5 different memoir pieces.
