Schoolwide’s newly launched Decodable Texts Teaching Plans are easy-to use, instructional roadmaps designed to connect what the research tells us about what skilled reading looks like to how students learn best. Aligned with grade- and skill-specific decodable texts, our plans also give teachers and intervention specialists the tools they need to set the optimal learning conditions to listen, observe strengths and weaknesses, and respond to student needs as they advance their learning and mastery of reading skills.

Our plans are part of our comprehensive Decodable Texts Teacher’s Guides, which also include several appendices, assessments, short texts, and student activities.

View our Decodable Texts Scope & Sequence

Schoolwide’s Decodable Texts and Teaching Plans are organized systematically and cumulatively. The texts and plans follow a sequential path, which begins with single letter sounds that can be combined to make consonant- vowel-consonant (CVC) words and ends with multisyllabic words. That is, they systematically follow the logical order of phonics skills from the simplest to the most complex. As students become more fluent readers, the texts become increasingly complex and more closely aligned with authentic fiction and nonfiction literature.

Our Scope & Sequence was created to be used alongside our Decodable Texts collection and Teaching Plans, but can also be utilized and/or adapted to align with other phonics and foundational skills curricula.
