Rory Cohen

Rory is Schoolwide, Inc.’s Educational Director. As Educational Director
she evaluates, directs, and shapes Schoolwide’s curriculum products,
including Writing and Reading Fundamentals, classroom libraries,
standards-based assessments, and Web-based resources. In addition, she
develops and plans Schoolwide’s workshops and facilitates professional
development training and support. Rory holds two master’s degrees,
including an MS in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College
Columbia University and an MS in Elementary Education with a
concentration in Reading from Lehman College. Rory is a nationally
recognized literacy consultant who has presented at the NCTE and IRA
national conventions. Prior to joining Schoolwide, Rory worked for seven years
as a senior staff developer at the renowned Teachers College Reading and
Writing Project under Lucy Calkins. She has extensive experience creating
reading and writing curricula maps aligned to state and national standards,
including the Common Core State Standards. She has also presented
numerous district-wide workshops for administrators, literacy coaches, and
teachers on all areas of the Reading and Writing Units of Study, Building
Reading and Writing Connections, Content Literacy, Creating and Utilizing
Classroom and Leveled Libraries, Independent Reading, Explicit Teaching
Through Read-Aloud, and Assessment.
