Christine Lagatta

Christine Lagatta is a literacy consultant with over twenty years of experience working with teachers and administrators. She brings her passion for children, enthusiasm for teaching, practical approach, and love of reading and writing to classrooms and school districts nationwide. Her goal is to bring effective, independent, differentiated, and rigorous writing and reading workshops to all children as well as to foster a lifelong love of reading and writing.  

Prior to joining Schoolwide, Christine was a staff developer with the Teachers College Columbia University Reading and Writing Project. As a nationwide staff developer, Christine has provided curriculum development, staff development in balanced literacy instruction, and instructional leadership for numerous administrators, literacy coaches, and teachers.  

Prior to becoming a staff developer, Christine taught a variety of elementary grades at P.S. 6 in New York City as well as at private schools in New Jersey. Her classroom was often a lab site for staff developers as well as a model classroom for visitors around the country. Christine was awarded her Master of Arts degree from Teachers College Columbia University in Curriculum and Teaching and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University in Early Childhood Education. 

Christine is thrilled to join Schoolwide’s team, who like her, are dedicated to working alongside educators to enact positive and lasting changes in literacy teaching and learning. She is thankful to be part of a learning community who shares her passion for children’s books and professional learning. When she isn’t consulting for Schoolwide, she can be found spending time with her husband and three daughters.
